Tom became the Director of the RCEP on August 1, 2001 after three years at the RCEP working as the Coordinator of the General RCEP and Coordinator of the partnership CRP/RCEP training project with the University of Hartford and University of New Hampshire. In addition to his coordinator function, he has been active as a trainer in all aspects of psychiatric rehabilitation, which has been his major professional interest for over twenty years. He has conducted training workshops extensively in New England and also in fifteen other states. In addition to his involvement with RCEP training, Tom is also an instructor in the Rehabilitation Counseling Masters Program at Assumption. Tom holds a doctorate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
Mark brings to the RCEP program over 25 years of experience in the fields of substance abuse, psychiatric rehabilitation, and traumatic brain injury. Mark obtained his graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption in 1976. He is a licensed social worker. Mark has worked extensively in community-based programs providing rehabilitation services for individuals with mental illness and/or substance abuse disabilities. Mark has experience in management and administration, budgeting, staff supervision, and program development. Mark has been an adjunct instructor at Assumption College in the Rehabilitation Counseling program since 1995 teaching graduate students.
Mary Ann is an Associate Coordinator for the RCEP, Region 1. As part of the RCEP team, she designs, manages, and implements continuing education curriculum for vocational rehabilitation, (VR), staff working in New England state VR agencies and community rehabilitation programs. Areas of training expertise include: Ethics for the Rehabilitation Professional, Career Decision-Making, the Use of the World Wide Web, (WWW), as a career exploration and job seeking tool, and issues of accessibility and accommodation for individuals who are Blind/Visually Impaired, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or who have Mental Health Issues. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, CRC, and holds a master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling from Northeastern University, Boston, MA.

Bob coordinates Technology and Special Projects for Region 1 RCEP. His responsibilities include managing the Recruitment Center for State Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, website development, statistical analysis for research projects, grantwriting, curriculum development and training on the topics of Resiliency, Leadership and Technology. Bob is an adjunct faculty member for the Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies Undergraduate Program and also the Rehabilitation Counseling Graduate Program at Assumption College. His background includes teaching courses in Social Diversity (specializing in Disability Awareness) and Counseling at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Bob was a co-founder and Director of Resource Development at the National Empowerment Center in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He has been a featured keynote speaker and seminar leader at professional training conferences across the country. Bob is also the founder of Inspiring Information, a firm which promotes innovative solutions for everyday problems. He earned his master's degree in Counseling and his certificate of advanced graduate study in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
In 1991, Shelby received a bachelor degree in both Elementary Education and Psychology from Worcester State College. Then, in 1996, she completed her Masters in Elementary Education at Fitchburg State College. Shelby taught elementary school for eight years before staying home to run her own in-home Family Child Care Center. At night, she taught evening classes at the Salter School. Shelby will be helping to coordinate training locations, meals and accommodations; coordinate training handouts; and collect post-training data. Shelby is excited to now be working with the RCEP at Assumption College.
